What's a snake repellent ?

Generally snake repellents take advantage of an animal’s natural aversions, and are often things that the animal has learned to avoid (or instinctively avoids) in its natural environment. Some animals will avoid anything that has the odor of the urine of certain predators for example.
Chemical repellents mimic these natural repellent substances, or are so irritating to a specific animal that it will avoid the protected object or area. Some of these chemical repellents combine both principles.
If you want to get rid of snakes or worry about snakes being in your yard where children or pets can be hurt a snake repellent system to get rid of snakes is recommended.
Snake repellents don’t kill snakes but have a good chance of preventing the reptiles from entering your property perimeter, much less your house.
If you live in an area where snakes are abundant, especially poisonous ones, you should always carry a snake repellent to keep those slinky reptiles at bay.
Their effectiveness is often a hotly contested topic, in the experience of knowledgeable biologists and herpetologists there are mixed reports of the effectiveness of snake repellents. Research continues.

There are a number of Snake Repellents available.

 (see our feature products)
For example there is Spray Liquid Fence Snake Repellent Concentrate. Liquid Fence Snake Repellent has been proven effective against most common types of snakes. Campers, take along a bottle of Liquid Fence Snake Repellent to create a barrier around your campsite.

Most traditional snake repellents use naphthalene, a chemical that has been shown to cause liver damage, anemia and is classified by the EPA as a Class C possible human carcinogen. Liquid Fence Snake Repellent is naphthalene free, earth and family friendly, and just as guaranteed effective at repelling snakes.
Another option is to use a granular repellent such as Dr T’s Snake-A-Way repellent.
There are also electronic snake repellents which have been developed to scare snakes away. They emit a pulsing vibration which causes the snake to evacuate the area.
Snakes are able to pick up some sound waves conducted through the air, but only at very low frequencies. They actually sense the vibration right throughout their bodies via their spine.
It is environmentally safe and will not affect any other animals, birds or livestock.
